Impressive presentation of the new German stamps “For young people” on the theme of music The ‘For young people’ stamps feature record covers
by Udo Lindenberg („Wir ziehen in den Frieden“), Karat („Albatros“) und BAP (“aff un zo”).

There could not have been a more fitting venue than the Rock’n’Pop Museum in Gronau for this year’s presentation of the special-issue postage stamps ‘For young people: Record Covers’. Rudolf Wagner was fortunate enough to receive an invitation to Gronau, the birthplace of Udo Lindenberg. This is because, amongst other things, the series pays tribute to his efforts to promote peace.
Frank Bartsch, appointed ‘Privy Councillor’ by Udo Lindenberg, playfully subverted the numerical order of the postage stamps and placed Udo Lindenberg at the centre of attention, thereby also paying tribute to his efforts towards peace.
Proceeds from these supplementary stamps – ‘Buy, stick on and collect stamps, and do some good in the process’ (State Secretary Michael Brand) – go towards children’s and youth welfare projects. “Peace, freedom and social engagement” were key themes in the speeches given by the official guests regarding the peace-promoting and socially inclusive themes of the selected records, as well as the children’s and youth welfare projects of the „Stiftung Deutsche Jugendmarke“.

One of these projects proved to be the most impressive highlight of the event: Dennis Buss, a musician, rapper and workshop leader, works with educational institutions and runs workshops at cultural venues and youth centres. Today, to thunderous applause, he presented his composition and his project ‘Kinderaugen’ together with a group of children and young people. Anyone who owns a stamp from the special series ‘For Young People: Record Covers’ can use the QR code to listen to and watch the audio and video recording of this performance.
