In memoriam: Charles Aznavour

On October 1, 2018, the Armenian-French chanson singer, songwriter, composer and actor Charles Aznavour died at the age of 94 years. Even as a nine-year-old he sang in his parents’ restaurant. 1946 Edith Piaf noticed him and took him on a tour. With his raspy voice Aznavour, who sang in several languages, has conquered a world audience. In his more than 70-year career, he has composed more than 1,300 songs, sold more than 180 million records and played in over 60 films. With him died one of the last great representatives of the classic chanson.

Milanofil 2018: Our Musikus on a Maximum Card

A nice surprise from Italy: On the occasion of the exhibition “Music in the Philatelic Literature” there was a maximum card with the picture of our “Musikus” during Milanofil 2018. With a little bit of good will you can also also identify it on the special cancellation. Many thanks to our friends at C.I.F.T., the Association of thematic philatelists in Italy.

Catalog of Spanish special postmarks on the Internet

29.3.2017 Axel Brockmann

Under http://catalogodematasellos.fesofi.es/
a catalog of Spanish special, first day- and tourism slogan cancels is available on the Internet free of charge. Broken down by provinces and optionally by cities, around 15,000 images of postmarks can be found here in chronological order together with the description of respective events. Even oldest postmarks from the 1930s can be found there. The catalog is a treasure trove for thematic collectors of all topics – of course, also for music stamp collectors. Here the Spanish stamp collectors association with support of the Spanish Post (Correos España) has designed a timely medium to inspire people for Spanish philately.
There is also a catalog for the Spanish stamps with lots of background information available under http://catalogodesellos.fesofi.es/. Although the information is in Spanish, the pictures and headlines make it easy to find what you are looking for. If necessary, texts can be quickly transferred to the desired language by use of the google translator.
